Professor Tops Austria's Best-Paid Jobs in 2025
The best-paid job in Austria for 2025 is Professor, with an annual salary of 84,500 €. This is according to a study by kununu Salary Check, which does not consider management positions or professions with less than 200 salary reports.
At the other end of the spectrum, kitchen helpers are the lowest-paid profession, earning an annual salary of 25,500 €. Separate rankings exist for the best-paid jobs for women and men, as well as a city ranking with Linz at the top.
A study by Daniel Kahneman and Angus Deaton suggests that an annual income of 75,000 US dollars (approximately 64,000 euros) is the threshold for happiness. In Vienna, doctors earn the most at 87,500 €. The best paid jobs in Germany in 2025 include Radiologists, Patent Lawyers, Senior Legal Counsels, and Global Key Account Managers, with median annual salaries ranging from 81,250 € to 121,750 €. Specialized doctors and senior architects in IT fields also earn high salaries, as do well-paid jobs without university degrees like Cloud Architects, Mechatronics Technicians, and System Administrators.
In Austria, the well-paid jobs cluster around the magical threshold of 75,000 €. Following Professor, doctors and software architects also make the list of best-paid jobs. Private bankers have the highest salary satisfaction rate at 83%.
