Aston Martin Unveils Sharper, More Powerful Vantage S
Aston Martin has introduced the 2026 Vantage S, a new variant of its entry-level sports car that promises to deliver a more focused, track-capable driving experience. The Vantage S, reviving a 72-year-old badge first seen on the DB3S in 1953, boasts significant improvements in power, chassis, and aerodynamics compared to the standard Vantage.
Under the hood, the Vantage S is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, sourced from Mercedes-AMG. This engine produces 670 to 680 horsepower, around 15 hp more than the base car, with unchanged torque of 590 lb-ft. The power peak now occurs higher up the rev range, improving performance and enabling a 0-60 mph acceleration time of around 3.3 to 3.4 seconds, a 0.1-second improvement over the standard Vantage.
In terms of chassis, the Vantage S benefits from a solid-mounted subframe, enhanced damper technology, and recalibrated suspension tuning. These changes aim to sharpen handling, improve agility, and provide more responsive dynamics for track-focused driving. Throttle response and drive-by-wire systems have also been tuned for greater immediacy.
Aerodynamically, the Vantage S includes new bold styling elements such as hood blades and a full-width decklid spoiler. These aero upgrades significantly boost downforce and enhance stability at speed, contributing to the car’s more aggressive stance and improved cornering grip.
The Vantage S will be available in both coupe and roadster versions. It has been tuned for improved road behavior without sacrificing overall refinement. The rear subframe has been directly bolted to the chassis, and the adaptive Bilstein DTX dampers have been retuned for a smoother ride. The rear springs and transmission mounts have been relaxed to reduce harshness, while the front end benefits from revised geometry settings for a more precise steering feel.
The more prominent rear spoiler on the Vantage S generates up to 111 kg of downforce for high-speed stability. This, along with the aerodynamic refinements, helps to elevate the Vantage S as a sharper, more powerful, and more track-capable variant of the entry-level Aston Martin sports car.
