Power Grid Secures Rs 705.51 Crore Infrastructure Projects
Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd has successfully secured two significant infrastructure projects worth Rs 705.51 crore. The first involves establishing a VOIP system across all five regional grids in India, costing Rs 209.68 crore. The second project, valued at Rs 495.83 crore, entails procuring 20 sets of Emergency Restoration System (ERS) under the Make in India initiative.
The first project, approved on September 29, 2025, is an Inter-Regional Strengthening scheme between the Southern (SR) and Western (WR) regions of India. It involves constructing 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines across Karnataka and Maharashtra. This project is executed on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis, leveraging Power Grid's expertise in developing and operating infrastructure. The project aims to enhance power grid connectivity between the two regions, aligning with efficient project management and investment recovery models.
The second project involves procuring 20 sets of Emergency Restoration System (ERS) under the Make in India initiative. This Rs 495.83 crore project is a significant step towards bolstering India's power grid resilience and reliability.
Power Grid's shares traded flat after touching a day's high of Rs 282.85 following the announcement of these projects. The successful bid for the Inter-Regional Strengthening project and the procurement of ERS systems demonstrate Power Grid's commitment to strengthening India's power infrastructure and supporting the government's Make in India initiative.
