Following her education at Anglican Girls Grammar School, Chinyere enrolled in the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) in Zaria in 1978. After obtaining her commercial aviation license from NCAT, she undertook further training courses in the UK and the US.

Throughout her journey, Chinyere faced numerous challenges. In 2006, a terrifying plane crash during training excited water into the engine, causing a harrowing experience. Despite this setback, Chinyere persevered and continued to teach flying to students, pushing through adversity to achieve her dreams.

Captain Chinyere Kalu: A Name to Remember

Despite the obstacles she faced, Chinyere's hard work, determination, and unyielding spirit eventually paid off. On December 28, 2011, she made aviation history by piloting the plane that would make her the first female pilot in Nigeria.

"I would like to see faster development in the sector. With reasonable fuel prices, airlines would see increased profitability, greater frequency of flights, and potentially reduced airfare, encouraging more people to fly.

Certain facilities should also be provided at airports to ensure safer flying conditions. If the aviation industry is developed, it would boost tourism and allow Nigeria to take its rightful place among the nations."
