Omaha Metro Transit introduces revamped identity on its initial batch of 26 new buses
The Omaha community is witnessing a transformation in its public transportation system, as Omaha Metro unveils a new fleet of buses and a revamped branding. Funded in part by a competitive federal grant from the Federal Transit Administration, these changes represent a visible commitment to improving the rider experience and connecting the community more effectively.
The new buses, with their bold, distinctive look featuring big blue colours and signature hot pink and teal designs, are a public-facing symbol of Metro Transit’s ongoing investment in rider experience. The 40-foot buses are easily identifiable, thanks to their striking design, and are intended to be easily visible on Omaha's roads.
Omaha Metro Transit will receive all 26 of the new buses by the end of 2025. The first of these buses debuted on August 7, 2025, and the full fleet will arrive over the next few months.
To further enhance mobility and connectivity options, Omaha Metro Transit recently launched Metro Flex, an app-based, on-demand microtransit service. This pilot project aims to increase flexible access to transit by providing rides connecting people to fixed-route buses, available in designated zones throughout the city. The Metro Flex service runs on weekdays and weekends with accessibility features, reinforcing the agency’s mission to connect people to opportunities.
Curt Simon, board chair of the Regional Metropolitan Transit Authority of Omaha, stated that the new buses are easily identifiable with their big, blue design. The new Metro Flex vans, with their signature hot pink and teal design, complement the new buses in this transformative initiative.
Omaha Metro CEO Lauren Cencic stated that the new branding is a visible sign of their promise to the Omaha community. This is the first bus to join Omaha Metro’s fleet since 2022, marking a significant step forward in the agency's mission to provide modern, efficient, and accessible public transportation.
On August 8, Omaha Metro unveiled a new branding on a 40-foot bus, signalling the start of a new era for the city's public transportation system. The new buses will rotate throughout all the routes citywide, enhancing recognition and accessibility.
These changes are part of Omaha Metro's ongoing investment in rider experience, as previously stated, and are expected to greatly improve the overall experience for commuters in the Omaha community.
