Octopus Energy Customers Enjoy Free Electricity and Savings as Millions Face Bill Hikes
Octopus Energy customers are benefiting from substantial savings and even receiving free electricity thanks to the company's innovative Agile tariff and initiatives like Savings Sessions. Meanwhile, millions of households are facing bill increases following Ofgem's price cap adjustment.
Over the past year, customers on Octopus Energy's Agile tariff have saved an average of £268 compared to those on the standard variable tariff. This is due to the Agile tariff's unique pricing structure, which changes every half hour based on wholesale energy prices. Today, households on this tariff could pay nothing or even get paid for their energy use, with five hours of negative prices already recorded and more expected this afternoon.
Today, thousands of Octopus Energy customers will pay nothing for their electricity this weekend due to Storm Amy. The company is providing free electricity for three hours this weekend as part of its Savings Sessions scheme, from 12pm to 2pm on Saturday and 11am to 12pm on Sunday. Wholesale energy prices are expected to remain below zero for a full day on Saturday due to high winds brought by the storm.
Octopus Energy's innovative tariffs and initiatives are providing significant savings and even free electricity to its customers. However, millions of households across the UK are facing increased energy bills following Ofgem's new price cap, which came into effect this week.
