New Munich skyscraper installs glass facade: notable occupants settle in

Get ready to witness a modern marvel in the heart of Munich's Bahnhofsviertel: The Stack, a stunning hybrid building that's about to leave everyone awe-struck by 2026. Right now, 369 glass elements, sourced from a specialist in Heidelberg, are being meticulously installed.

Munich - Forget any boring, gray concrete structures; The Stack is here to shake things up on the corner of Schwanthaler- and Goethestraße. With its mesmerizing facade of glass and wood, this architectural marvel is set to take the Bahnhofsviertel by storm. The project is quickly nearing completion, with the installation of the 369 custom-made facade elements in full swing.

A Glass and Wood Phenomenon: The Eye-Catching Stack

According to Accumulata, the project developer, "The distinctive, stacked character" of the building's facade will significantly revamp the streetscape. Partnering with AXA IM Alts, Accumulata is working tirelessly to bring this vision to life.

Some of the biggest names in the industry are lined up to move into The Stack. The pharmaceutical company Novartis will call The Stack home following the Benko bankruptcy, which terminated the lease for Alte Akademie. Joining Novartis is the globally active law firm Quinn Emanuel, whose prestigious clients include none other than Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Construction On-the-Go at The Stack

Despite the progress, plenty of work still needs to be done before the inauguration. While the installation of the facade is well underway, the interior fit-out is also proceeding in parallel. The building will feature an extensive smart building concept, with automation controlling lighting, temperature, and air quality zone by zone and resource-efficiently.

To achieve high standards for targeted certifications, CO2 sensors and variable ventilation systems will dynamically adapt air quality to room occupancy. This cutting-edge technology not only saves costs but aims at reducing the building's carbon footprint.

A Greener Tomorrow at The Stack

Even for a city as man-made as Munich, The Stack will bring some much-needed greenery. With a 1,200 square meter rooftop garden, people will have a lush haven overlooking the bustling city. Moreover, an envisioned planted facade will feature a staggering 15,000 plants, contributing to improved microclimate in the city center.

Stefan Schillinger, CEO of Accumulata, shares a hopeful vision: "The greened elements will serve as the building's green fingerprints, freshening up the urban landscape."
