New model SUV, U8L from BYD Yangwang, now available for pre-purchase, with starting price tag of $180,700.
Yangwang U8L Luxury SUV Officially Launches on July 31
The much-anticipated Yangwang U8L luxury SUV is set to hit the market on July 31, 2025, marking the start of pre-orders and a special launch event at 2:30 PM Beijing time. This high-end vehicle, priced at RMB 1.3 million ($180,700) during pre-sales, is an extended version of the U8 off-road SUV and is built on BYD's e4 technology.
The U8L boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 5,400 mm in length, 2,049 mm in width, and 1,921 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm. Powered by four electric motors, it delivers over 1,000 horsepower. The SUV is also equipped with BYD's DiSus-P body control system, the most advanced branch of the DiSus system.
The U8L features a gold logo made from 24K pure gold, adding a touch of luxury to its exterior. The Dingshi Edition is the only option available during pre-sales.
Yangwang, an ultra-luxury sub-brand of BYD, plans to launch the brand in Europe. However, sales figures for the Yangwang models so far have been lower than expected. In the first half of 2025, Yangwang delivered 1,003 vehicles domestically, which is 5.5 times less than the same period in 2024.
In June 2025 alone, Yangwang sold 205 vehicles, a drop of 51% compared to the previous year but an increase of nearly 50% compared to the previous month. The brand currently has four models in its lineup: U8L, U8, U9, and U7.
Interested Chinese customers can reserve the U8L for RMB 20,000 and receive a RMB 30,000 optional feature fund. The exact sales count for the U8L is not yet available as it has only recently started pre-sales.
