Sven Krause Unveils a Stylish EDEKA Market on Fehmarn
Gear up, 'cause on the 26th of June, entrepreneur Sven Krause will throw open the doors of his new EDEKA market at Landkirchener Weg 57, Fehmarn. With a massive 2,600 sqm of retail space, top-tier tech, and an emphasis on freshness, regional goodness, and customer satisfaction, this joint is set to blow your socks off!
"Our new market blends cutting-edge tech with a shopping experience that caters to our customers' needs," grins Sven Krause. "We can't wait to welcome the folks on Fehmarn to a market that impresses with quality, service, and regional flair!" Backing him up will be a stellar team of around 100 employees, including six apprentices.
To celebrate the grand occasion, they've got a raucous lineup of events: kid-friendly face painting and tattoos, a fun spin-on-the-wheel, delicious food tastings, a sweet M&M's personalization wall, and eye-catching wine deals will add plenty of excitement to the unveilin'!
The market adorns the isle of Fehmarn with style, openin' from Monday to Saturday, 7 am to 8 pm, and expandin' its hours to Sundays from March to October. Keepin' it island-inspired, it boasts a stunning tile backsplash in a fish-scale pattern and maritime blue, takin' you straight to the seashore. The bright lighthouses dotting the store serve as handy navigational guides, while bilingual signage in Plattdeutsch, German, and English covers the island's cultural diversity and popularity as a getaway destination.
The sizable 8-meter fresh food counter dishes up a delicious variety of meats, sausages, cheeses, and useful advice on what's what. EDEKA Krause partners with local suppliers to source their smoked fish, jams, sweets, eggs, and beers. For the vegetarians and health-conscious, a selection of organic products will also be available. Gonna be a standout feature? The M&M's Colorwall, where customers dream up their personalized M&M's mix!
The warm food counter dishes up classic comfort food, while the island bakery Böhrke sets up cozy indoor and outdoor chillin' zones. Pop by the pre-checkout area for a post or lottery purchase if you're feelin' lucky! Eat Happy plans to branch out in 2026 with an Asian cuisine expansion.
This eco-friendly market uses green tech, like LED lighting, waste heat recovery, and glass refrigeration units. A rooftop solar panel system ensures self-sufficient electricity. Customers reap the benefits of advanced tech, with seven conventional cash registers and three self-service terminals to save on queue time. The Scan & Go function lets customers scan items on their mobile device as they shop for a speedier, hassle-free checkout.
Plenty of free car and bike charge spots await outside, with extra spaces poppin' up come autumn. There's even kid-friendly trolleys and specialized carts for your mini-me's!
