Deutsche Bank Appoints Simone Kämpfer as New General Counsel and Ralph Nash as Head of Anti-Financial Crime

Simone Kämpfer, a renowned expert in white-collar crime law and compliance, has been appointed as the new General Counsel of Deutsche Bank, effective September 15, 2025. She succeeds Friederike Rotsch and will become a member of Deutsche Bank’s Group Management Committee.

Kämpfer, who is currently one of the most senior partners at Freshfields, will lead the bank’s legal department with deep expertise in compliance and litigation risk. She is recognized as one of Germany’s leading experts in commercial law, regulatory matters, governance, and investigations. She also has experience as a former public prosecutor and serves on the board of the investment firm Droege Group.

Ralph Nash, on the other hand, has been announced as the Head of Anti-Financial Crime at Deutsche Bank, also starting September 15, 2025. While less detailed information is available about him in the search results, his role implies leadership over the bank’s compliance functions related to preventing financial crime.

Nita Patel, Head of Anti-Financial Crime and Group Anti-Money Laundering Officer, has decided to leave the bank for personal reasons. Nash will report directly to Laura Padovani.

Friederike Rotsch, the previous General Counsel, has decided to leave the bank to pursue new opportunities. Simone Kämpfer will fill her role, bringing her extensive experience advising companies on regulatory matters, governance, and investigations to the position.
