Mining operations at the "Yuzuralolot" site in Plastow have been temporarily halted for a period of 90 days.

The Plastovsky City Court has ordered a temporary halt on operations at the "Central" mine in the Plastovsky district, owned by PAO "Yuzhuralzoloto Group of Companies." The court's decision comes as a result of safety violations discovered during mining and processing of solid minerals at the hazardous facility.

The specific violations include inadequate ventilation in two ventilation sections, lack of proper support for underground mining operations in several sections, and the absence of a real-time personnel location tracking system in all active mining sections.

The court's decision was made due to the significant financial resources and time required to eliminate these documented violations, and to protect the lives and health of PAO "YUGK" workers at the "Central" mine.

The court also found violations in the plan for mining operations at the "Central" mine. However, the article does not provide any new information about the protection of the lives and health of PAO "YUGK" workers, the discoveries made by representatives of Rostekhnadzor, the financial resources or time required to eliminate the documented violations, or any new factual information about the "Central" mine or PAO "Yuzhuralzoloto Group of Companies."

This decision is part of a broader effort by the government to address unsafe mining activities and environmental harms, following a series of incidents, including a dam collapse in April 2024 at the Svetlinsky deposit in Plastovsky District, which led to the government’s decision to nationalize Yuzhuralzoloto and impose halts on its hazardous operations in the Plastovsky district[1][2]. The legal consequences of these violations include a major lawsuit seeking 4 billion rubles ($50 million) in environmental compensation filed by the Prosecutor General’s Office against the former management of Yuzhuralzoloto.

  2.
