Mercedes-Benz Unveils Electric Intercity Bus eIntouro, Expands Charging Infrastructure
Mercedes-Benz is set to unveil the series-production version of its electric intercity bus, the eIntouro, at Busworld Europe in Brussels. The reveal coincides with Daimler Buses' plans to expand public charging infrastructure for electric buses and coaches across Europe.
The eIntouro, a battery-electric bus, will benefit from Daimler Buses' initiative to install and maintain charging stations. The project begins with a pilot in Cologne, Germany, where four public fast-charging points will be installed near the city center. This move supports sustainable tourism by providing zero-emission charging infrastructure.
The eIntouro can be equipped with one or two LFP batteries, offering a range of up to 500 kilometers. Daimler Buses plans to introduce battery-electric coaches by 2030 and fuel cell coaches in the future. Starting in 2026, the company will install public charging stations across Europe. At Busworld Europe, Daimler Buses will also showcase its new NMC4 battery generation in the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro electric city bus.
The reveal of the eIntouro and the expansion of charging infrastructure mark significant steps towards sustainable urban mobility. Daimler Buses' commitment to electric and fuel cell technologies aims to reduce emissions and support sustainable transportation across Europe.
