Maruti Suzuki Unveils the Victoris: A New Compact SUV

Maruti Suzuki, India's leading automobile manufacturer, has made a significant move in the Indian Passenger Vehicle (PV) market with the launch of its latest utility vehicle, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. The Victoris, meaning Victory in Latin, is set to give the Indian compact SUV segment a major boost and further strengthen Maruti Suzuki's position in the market.

The Victoris will be available in ten different exterior color choices, offering customers a wide selection to match their personal style. The SUV's design is expected to draw inspiration from the Grand Vitara, but with distinctive elements and a cleaner, smoother look. New design alloy wheels and sleeker LED lighting elements at the front and rear are expected to add to its appeal.

The taillight design of the Victoris teased by the company features a 3D look and a sleek brake lamp. The cabin of the Victoris is expected to be upmarket, featuring a fresh dashboard layout, a larger floating touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a premium Arkamys-tuned sound system, a fully digital driver's display, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats.

Maruti Suzuki has also confirmed that the Victoris will come with advanced tech features such as Gen 3 telematics, Alexa Auto integration, a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, Level 2 ADAS suite, and six airbags as standard. The SUV will also have a plethora of safety features, including ABS, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), a 360-degree surround view camera, and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite.

Maruti Suzuki may equip the Victoris with multiple powertrain choices, including a mild-hybrid petrol engine, a CNG option, and a 1.5-litre strong-hybrid mill. The Victoris will also come with an AllGrip Select 4x4 system. There is a speculation that the new Victoris will come with a three-row version, differentiating it from the Brezza and the Grand Vitara.

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris will be sold through the Arena retail chain, aiming to reach more people and make the SUV more accessible. The Victoris will be the flagship product from the brand's Arena retail network. The SUV is priced at 1.05 million Indian Rupees in India; no information on prices in other countries worldwide is available.

Maruti Suzuki aims to sell the Victoris in over 100 countries around the world. The Victoris will face competition from SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. Maruti Suzuki will launch two new SUVs in the Indian market in FY26, one of which is the Victoris compact SUV.

Maruti Suzuki is focusing on the new SUV to expand its market share in the mass market SUV segment and capitalize on the trend of SUVs being the leading revenue churners. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris launch is scheduled during the festive season, a traditionally prosperous time for automakers. The name of the new Maruti Suzuki SUV has been confirmed as Maruti Suzuki Victoris.
