Marking a significant milestone, Patas na Patalastas 2025 honors half a century of self-regulation in advertising, exploring fresh territories in ethical promotion.

The Ad Standards Council (ASC) is marking a significant milestone as it celebrates the second year towards its 50th Anniversary of Advertising Self-Regulation. Established amidst the political shifts during Martial Law in 1974, the ASC has stood as a safeguard for consumers and a living testament to integrity in communication.

The celebration, named Patas na Patalastas 2025, the National Summit on Fair and Progressive Advertising Self-Regulation, is taking place at the Rizal Ballroom of the Makati Shangri-la Hotel. The event brings together industry leaders, regulators, and stakeholders to reflect on the half-century history of a commitment to ethical standards and responsible advertising.

Jun Nicdao, Oversight Committee Chair, emphasised the importance of vigilance in protecting consumers and fulfilling the ASC's mandate. He stated, "As we celebrate our milestone, we must remain committed to our mission and ensure that advertising in the Philippines continues to uphold truth, fairness, and responsibility."

The ASC was built by visionary leaders from both the private and public sectors. Key figures such as Bernardo Villegas, a prominent businessman, and Manuel Morato, a government official involved in cultural and media regulation, played instrumental roles in creating the self-regulatory system for Philippine advertising during Martial Law.

Robbie Aligada, ASC Executive Director, highlighted the global impact of the Philippine advertising self-regulation model and Code of Ethics. He stated, "Our commitment to truth, fairness, decency, and lawfulness in advertising has become a benchmark for other nations. We are proud of our achievements and look forward to continuing our mission in the years to come."

The Summit aims to mark five decades of commitment to these ethical standards. The industry is encouraged to reflect on its past, present, and future as it continues to strive for excellence and integrity in advertising.
