Mount Horeb Community Gathers to Discuss Proposed Apartment Development

A group of concerned community members in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, recently gathered to discuss a proposed apartment development that has sparked controversy in the historic town.

The contracting group, JG Development, has bought property on Main Street, with plans to build a four-story, 66 unit building in the heart of Mount Horeb's historic landmarks. According to reports, the developer of this residential project is Darrel Rochan.

However, many citizens of Mount Horeb feel that this project would bring unnecessary change to their charming downtown. Michelle Kelley, the meeting organiser, stated that Mount Horeb has a unique charm and they want to preserve it.

Kelley and other organisers prepared a detailed outline of the building plan, its potential violations, and a list of suggested emails to send to village board members. They argue that the proposed building goes against much of what's in Mount Horeb's comprehensive plan and zoning codes.

The village board has stated that the apartment developer is open to hearing feedback from both the planning commission and the community. The Village Board of Mt. Horeb has a planning commission that will review the construction proposal at their October meeting.

At the meeting, yard signs with the slogan "It's too Big - Preserve Historic Mount Horeb" were handed out, reflecting the community's sentiments. Notably, no Mt. Horeb officials were present at the meeting.

It's important to note that the meeting did not discuss the downloading of any apps, nor did it involve any copyright issues or rights reserved.

The ongoing effort to prevent the new apartment building from being built downtown is part of a larger movement to preserve the historic charm of Mount Horeb. The community is eagerly awaiting the planning commission's review and the developer's response to the concerns raised.
