Liebherr-Aerospace Expands MRO in Michigan
Liebherr-Aerospace has opened a new building in Saline, Michigan, USA, to expand its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities. The official opening took place in early October 2025, marking the company's fifth major expansion since 1993.
The new facility, spanning 33,000 ft2 (3,065 m2), is adjacent to the existing complex. It optimises internal MRO processes for additional product lines, increasing landing gear processing capacity and extending the area for pneumatic component maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities.
Alex Vlielander, Chief Customer Officer at Liebherr-Aerospace & Transportation SAS, praised the expansion. He highlighted the strong global customer support and the benefits of being physically close to clients. The expansion responds to growing global demand for aftermarket services, providing additional testing, repair, overhaul, and recore capacity for Liebherr heat transfer equipment on various aircraft types.
This expansion demonstrates Liebherr-Aerospace Saline's commitment to supporting customers in North America and beyond. By expanding its MRO network, the company shortens turnaround times, reduces overall maintenance costs for airlines and operators, and supports sustainability goals by lowering its carbon footprint.
