LG's AI Technology for Smart Homes, Software-Controlled Automobiles, Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems, and Autonomous Vehicles at CES
At this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), LG Electronics showcased an array of exciting new services, setting the stage for a future where cars become living spaces on wheels and homes become more intelligent and personalised.
Among the new offerings, LG introduced 'ChatThinQ', a generative AI chatbot, and '3D Home View', a 3D home visualisation tool. These innovative solutions aim to provide seamless and intuitive interactions, transforming the way we communicate with our vehicles and homes.
In the realm of mobility, LG shared its vision for SDV (Software-Defined Vehicle) solutions, envisioning cars as mobile living spaces. The platform, powered by advanced automotive displays, digital clusters, AR-HUD (Augmented Reality Head-Up Display), and visualization software, promises to deliver a unique and immersive driving experience.
LG also unveiled LG AlphaWare, a suite of software solutions for SDV. This comprehensive offering includes modules for existing vehicle systems, SW development solutions, in-cabin entertainment solutions, and human-machine interface solutions. The collaboration aims to deliver differentiated user experiences in the vehicle cabin, with a scalable solution that supports multiple IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) systems and ADAS/AD (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems/Autonomous Driving) domain integration.
The platform is expected to hit the market soon, with customization options tailored to OEMs' integrated communications and IVI system needs. LG's commitment to ethical AI usage and data security ensures that personal data is protected at every stage of the process, with LG Shield, LG's robust data security system, providing an additional layer of protection.
In the smart home sector, LG announced plans for a new smart home hub. The company is also focusing on surpassing industry benchmarks for AI implementation, known as Responsible Intelligence. To achieve this, LG presented a blueprint for an AI-based smart home, incorporating 'Affectionate Intelligence' technology into the ThinQ platform.
Notable automobile manufacturers that received private demonstrations from LG Electronics for CES 2024 include Honda and Mercedes. LG, in collaboration with Magna, is also developing a cross-domain platform integrating ADAS, AD, and IVI technologies for the automotive industry.
CEO Cho emphasised that LG's AI approach prioritises customer control, ensuring that users remain at the heart of every innovation. With a commitment to benefiting all users and ensuring personal data protection, LG is set to redefine the future of mobility and smart homes.
