Landshut's New District Authority Building Opens After Three-Year Construction
The new district authority building in Landshut district has been officially handed over after three years of construction. The project, aimed at tackling lack of space and uniting various offices under one roof, has been praised by Bavarian ministers as a symbol of progress and future orientation.
The new building, designed by a+r Architekten, is a sustainable timber hybrid construction with a climate-friendly energy concept. It is set to welcome its first administrative units on September 25, with the news of its first opening day planned for October 6. The building's design blends harmoniously with its surroundings, thanks to careful landscape modeling.
The project has a long history, fulfilling a 1972 resolution to relocate the Landratsamt from the city center to the district. It will now be situated at Josef-Neumeier-Allee 1 in Essenbach, marking a significant milestone in the district's history. An open house day is planned for November 9, 2025, allowing the public to explore the new facilities.
Initially estimated at around 75 million euros, the project's cost has increased due to market conditions, with the final figure expected to exceed 100 million euros. Despite the increase, Bavarian Minister of Economics, Hubert Aiwanger, congratulated the Landratsamt on creating a modern, citizen-friendly administration.
The new district authority building in Landshut district, a testament to sustainable design and future-oriented planning, is set to enhance administrative services and public engagement. With its first opening day approaching, the building stands as a significant achievement in the district's history.
