Krasnodar Krai, Belarus Strengthen Ties with Cooperation Agreement
Krasnodar Krai, Russia's primary winemaking region, has strengthened ties with the Republic of Belarus. Veniaamin Kondraтьev, Krasnodar Krai Governor, expressed gratitude to Belarus' President and Government for hosting the delegation at the Innoprom exhibition in Minsk. The visit culminated in a cooperation agreement, with a roadmap for specific plans and tasks.
The agreement, signed in 2023, covers various sectors. Dmitrii Krootoi, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, emphasized the need to boost cooperation to reduce technological dependence. Kondraтьev and Krootoi discussed collaborations in industry and agriculture.
In the agricultural sector, Krasnodar Krai is focusing on import substitution of beet seeds. Kuban farmers receive compensation for up to 70% of the costs of purchasing domestic beet seeds. Another promising area is seed production. Additionally, Krasnodar Krai is keen on increasing wine supplies to Belarus, given its status as the main winemaking region in Russia.
The cooperation agreement between Krasnodar Krai and the Republic of Belarus is set to boost economic ties, particularly in agriculture and industry. With a roadmap approved, both sides aim to reduce technological dependence and increase trade, notably in beet seeds and wine.
