Kia streamlines Picanto offerings, boosts Xceed's power output, and eliminates Ceed model from lineup
Kia Streamlines Lineup with New Models and Electric Vehicles
Kia Motors has announced significant changes to its lineup, following the discontinuation of the Ceed, Ceed SW, and Proceed models. The new Kia lineup for 2025 includes the addition of the Picanto XCeed and the K4, among other vehicles.
The Picanto XCeed, a new entrant in the smaller crossover segment, joins the Kia family. This compact vehicle offers both manual and automatic gearbox options, excluding the XCeed's new 1.6-litre petrol variant. The trims of the Picanto and XCeed have been renamed to Pure, GT-Line, and GT-Line S. Notably, the Picanto is now sold exclusively with a 1.0-litre petrol triple.
The K4, an all-new, tech-forward compact sedan, is designed to replace or succeed models like the Ceed. It comes in notable trims such as the GT-Line Turbo, offering luxury features at competitive pricing. The K4 will be built in Mexico and sold in North America in both hatchback and estate forms.
Kia's electric vehicle offerings include the EV6 and new EV9. The iconic Soul, with updated tech, and the compact crossover Seltos also feature in the lineup. The Sportage is available in conventional, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid variants, with refreshed interior and displays. The Niro family, including EV, Hybrid, and PHEV versions, completes the lineup.
The culling of the Ceed, Ceed SW, and Proceed makes way on the Zilina production line for the incoming EV4, Kia's first electric C-segment vehicle. Deliveries are scheduled to begin imminently. The EV4 will be followed by the incoming EV2, Kia's new entry-level EV, which will be manufactured at the Zilina plant from early 2026.
Production of the Ceed, Ceed SW, and Proceed has ended. The base model of the Xceed now boasts a 1.0-litre triple hybrid, while the Xceed's range-topping variant features a 1.6-litre petrol four. The Hyundai model expected to be twinned with the EV2 is expected to be named Ioniq 2, and it is set to be revealed at the Munich motor show.
It is worth noting that there will be no direct replacement for the Ceed, Ceed SW, and Proceed. The new K4, a combustion-engined Volkswagen Golf rival, is expected to fill the void of the Ceed, Ceed SW, and Proceed in Europe later this year, but this is not yet officially confirmed.
Prices for the XCeed start at £25,165 and top out at £33,125. Prices for the Picanto start at £16,695 and top out at £20,245. The XCeed model has been added to Kia's line-up, and the K4 has been spotted testing in Europe earlier this year.
The EV2 was previewed by a concept earlier this year, and the new K4 is expected to be revealed later in the year. With this shift, Kia's lineup consists of a diverse mix of electric, hybrid, sedan, and SUV models, moving away from the Ceed line towards new compact options like the K4 and Picanto XCeed.
