Khabarovsk Region Allocates 1.3 Billion Rubles for Waste Management and Environmental Conservation

The Khabarovsk region, Russia, has announced significant initiatives to improve waste management and environmental conservation. A total of approximately 1.3 billion rubles has been allocated for these projects, which are part of the national 'Ecology' project.

The region plans a comprehensive reform of its solid municipal waste management system, with three major infrastructure facilities slated for construction. Additionally, a 28-kilometer complex of protective hydrotechnical structures is being built along the Amur River and its tributaries in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The Industrial District Dam in Khabarovsk, a 5.5-kilometer hydrotechnical structure, safeguards around 200,000 people from flooding.

Governor Dmitry Demezhin recently met with Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Dmitry Patrushev in Moscow. They discussed agricultural and ecological issues, with over 780 million rubles allocated for waste management and forest restoration. The region is also focusing on reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere. In 2025, the sowing area expanded to 60.4 thousand hectares, a 4% increase from the previous year. The 'Ecological Well-being' project, launched by President Vladimir Putin, will continue in the region this year.

The Khabarovsk region is actively working on environmental improvements, with substantial investments in waste management and ecological projects. The region's governor, Dmitry Demezhin, is engaging with high-ranking officials to facilitate federal support for these initiatives.
