Karin Turner-Hrdlicka set to assume responsibilities in European Central Bank oversight

Looks like we've got a new boss in town, folks! As of March 1st, Karin Turner-Hrdlicka steps into the hot seat as General Director for On-Site Inspections and Internal Model Supervision of banks under the European Central Bank (ECB). She's taking over from Linette Field, who's bidin' adieu to the ECB, as confirmed by the central bank last week.

Banks rely on internal models to magically calculate the risk-weighted assets for their credit, market, and counterparty risk. But don't get too buzzed about the new girl, Karin – there's a twist!

According to the ECB, Alessandro Santoni is the current General Director for On-Site Inspections and Internal Model Supervision. He's the big-wig Section Head responsible for On-site & Internal Model Inspections, as revealed by ECB data related to their supervisory roles[4]. However, details about exactly when he started his term aren't crystal clear. We've got a pretty good idea it's been at least early 2025, but we ain't got the exact date just yet[4].

So, while Karin's the new kid on the block, it's Alessandro who's been steering the ship for a while now – or at least since early 2025. Keep 'em regulations tight, folks!

The new General Director for On-Site Inspections and Internal Model Supervision of banks under the European Central Bank (ECB), Karin Turner-Hrdlicka, replaced Linette Field as of March 1st, yet it seems Alessandro Santoni has been holding the position since at least early 2025, currently serving as the General Director and Section Head responsible for On-site & Internal Model Inspections. This change in leadership unfolds amidst the ongoing discourse within the realm of finance, politics, and general-news.

Karin Turner-Hrdlicka moves from the Austrian National Bank to oversee banking supervision at the European Central Bank.
