Jalen Green Earns Western Conference Player of the Week Honor

Jalen Green's stellar week earned him the Western Conference Player of the Week title for games from January 13 to January 19, marking his second time receiving this honor in his career. The first occasion was back in mid-March of last season.

The Rockets enjoyed a 3-1 week, with Green averaging an impressive 32.5 points on a sizzling 60.6% shooting from the floor and a scorching 63.6% from beyond the arc. He notched scores of 42, 34, 28, and 26 in the four games. Green became one of only two players in NBA history, alongside Damian Lillard, to score at least 25 points and hit over four three-pointers while maintaining a 50% shooting rate from the floor and from three-point range in five consecutive games.

As the month of January began, Green had scored over 20 points in all nine games, marking his longest streak yet. On the season, Green is the top scorer for the team with an average of 21.6 points per game. Over his last 22 outings, Green has averaged an impressive 24.5 points per game, hitting 48.2% of his shots. The Rockets have an unbeaten 8-0 record when Green scores 30 or more points.

After a sluggish start where Green managed just 18.2 points per game while shooting 38.1% from the floor, Green's recent turnaround has been encouraging. Signed to a whopping $105.33 million contract lasting until the 2027-2028 season, Green's third year contains a player option worth $36 million. The Rockets' decision to offer this contract indicates their hesitancy about Green's future prospects and their commitment to his development.

Green could have signed for a whopping $38.661 million on a max contract, but his current deal represents a $5.33 million discount. This move signifies the Rockets' ability to be patient with the valuable assets they've amassed, avoiding the need to cash in on them prematurely. The Rockets currently hold a strong second position in the Western Conference, with a 28-14 record. With Green's impressive form, there's a sense of urgency to augment their roster with a star scoring threat, but Green has been more than capable of filling that role in recent weeks.

The significant improvement in Jalen Green's performance on the court, as evidenced by his recent scoring streak and stellar shooting percentages, has garnered attention from sports analysts and business enthusiasts alike. His impressive form and statistical data make him a valuable asset for the Rockets' business strategy, potentially attracting more sponsorships and higher ticket sales due to his increasing popularity.
