Investor purchases stake in Feneberg Butcher Shop

In August, the Kempten Local Court initiated a protective shield procedure for Allgaüe Fresh Foods GmbH (AFF), a butchery based in Kempten that is part of the Feneberg Group. This process, designed to help companies under severe economic strain, allows AFF to restructure its business independently, without involving any bankruptcy or liquidation. The aim is to help AFF recover from the severe economic pressure it has been facing in the meat industry, particularly due to high price and cost pressures.

Despite the protective shield procedure, operations at AFF are continuing as usual. Customers are still being supplied as before, and nothing changes for contract farmers working with AFF. Robert Freund, the managing director of AFF in 2021, is overseeing the operations during this period.

The protective shield procedure does not involve the Feneberg Group directly. It is intended to provide AFF with time to address its economic difficulties and find a sustainable solution. The protective shield procedure is not a new concept, and it has been used in the past to help companies navigate challenging economic conditions.

Allgaüe Fresh Foods GmbH (AFF) is an independent butchery within the Kempten-based Feneberg Group. The protective shield procedure is a tool that allows AFF to work towards a viable future while continuing to serve its customers and contract farmers. The hope is that, with this breathing space, AFF will be able to overcome its current challenges and continue to thrive in the meat industry.
