Introduced: Scout Traveler and Terra Models - New Extended Range Electric, Gas, and Frunked SUV and Truck by Scout Brand

Scout Motors Inc. is reviving the classic American Scout for the electric era with the launch of two new vehicles: the Scout® Traveler™ SUV and Scout® Terra™ truck.

The Scout Traveler™ and Terra™ are modern electric vehicles inspired by the original International Harvester Scouts. They are designed as rugged, off-road capable body-on-frame models with contemporary electric powertrains.

Scout Traveler™ SUV

The Scout Traveler™ SUV is set to launch as a 2028 model, with production beginning in late 2027. Key features and specifications include:

  • A body-on-frame midsize off-roader constructed with a stamped steel ladder frame and solid rear axle to maintain classic toughness and off-road capability.
  • Dual permanent magnet electric motors providing all-wheel drive with front and rear locking differentials, producing up to 1,000 lb-ft of torque.
  • Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 3.5 seconds.
  • A 100 kWh usable lithium-ion battery pack delivering up to about 350 miles of EPA-equivalent range in pure electric mode.
  • An optional "Harvester" extended-range version featuring a small onboard gas generator to extend the total driving range beyond 500 miles.
  • An 800V electrical architecture allowing ultra-fast charging and efficient thermal management.
  • Equipped with available 35-inch all-terrain tires and mechanical setup suitable for serious off-roading.
  • Interior materials include seats upholstered in recycled fiber fabrics or vegan leather, dashboards with ERC core composites, and carpets made from reclaimed fishing nets.
  • Features physical metal toggle climate and drive mode switches for tactile control.
  • Front trunk ("frunk") with a slide-out picnic bench seat and under-seat cubbies enhancing storage and outdoor utility.

Scout Terra™ Truck

Though search results provide less specific technical detail, the Scout Terra™ is mentioned alongside the Traveler™ as part of Scout Motors' revival of the Scout legacy. The Terra™ is positioned as an electric pickup that shares the design ethos of rugged American SUVs but with modern electric powertrains and construction.

Key Features and Specifications

  • Nearly 2,000 pounds payload capacity.
  • A bold, iconic design with multifunctional spaces, termed the Connection Machine.
  • Electric models projected to offer up to 350 miles of range.
  • Engineered for off-road performance with features such as 35-inch tires, over a foot of ground clearance, and significant water fording capabilities.
  • The projected towing capacity of the Terra™ is over 10,000 pounds, while the Traveler™'s is over 7,000 pounds.
  • Inside, the vehicles offer flexible cargo areas and robust materials. The Terra™'s 5.5-foot bed is equipped with multiple power outlets, while the Traveler™'s split tailgate allows for easy cargo access.
  • Scout Motors' Traveler™ and Terra™ will feature both electric and gasoline-powered range-extended energy systems.

Production and Sales

The production of these vehicles is expected to create over 4,000 jobs. Scout Motors plans to establish a unique sales and service network for direct customer relationships. Both vehicles are designed and engineered in Michigan and will be produced in South Carolina.

Customers can reserve their Traveler™ starting at $50,000 and their Terra™ starting at $51,500. With their rugged design, advanced electric powertrains, and sustainable materials, the Scout Traveler™ and Terra™ are poised to honour the original Scout ethos of versatility and adventure.
