Innovative Social Housing Development Completed in Jersey
A new development of 31 social housing units, Ed Le Quesne House, has been completed in Minden Place, Jersey. The building, designed for individuals transitioning to independent living spaces, has been praised for its high standard and innovative design.
The construction process faced challenges due to the site's tight space and limited access. Despite these obstacles, the building features an eye-catching exterior with undulating brick carving and wave-form twisted steel apartment balcony balustrades. Each apartment comes with a private balcony, and tenants can enjoy a communal courtyard area.
The building offers a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments, all finished to a high standard. The Christians Together in Jersey Housing Trust owns the development and provides on-site caretakers available 24/7 to support tenants. Charles Thacker, the Chairman of the Trust, laid the ceremonial brick for the development.
Approximately three-quarters of the apartments are already occupied, with tenants expressing satisfaction with their new homes. The Ed Le Quesne House is set to provide a supportive living environment for those transitioning to independent living spaces.
