Radio-Canada's News Head, Luce Julien, Announces Retirement

Luce Julien, the information chief at Radio-Canada, announced her retirement on Tuesday, concluding seven years in the role. Her departure is set for the end of 2025, with the selection process for her successor expected to commence shortly.

Throughout her career, Julien has spent the majority of her time at Radio-Canada, where she notably oversaw news departments on radio, the ICI RDI channel, and digital platforms. In 2016, she temporarily left the public broadcaster to serve as editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper Le Devoir. She returned to Radio-Canada in 2018, becoming the first woman to lead the newsroom.

"My passion for information and public service continues to burn with the same intensity and fervor! After careful consideration, I have decided to take a step back, cherish the passing of time more, and seek new opportunities to serve society," Julien stated on Tuesday.

Details regarding the identity of her successor and the expected timeline for the selection process were not disclosed.

With Julien's departure from Radio-Canada, there may be openings in the French-language business sector for those seeking leadership roles in finance and journalism, particularly in the field of news broadcasting and digital media. As Julien has demonstrated throughout her career, a background in French media can pave the way for successful careers in various aspects of the industry.
