In Omsk, a distributor for a major retail chain is suspected of violating the trade law.
Rewritten Article:
The antitrust squad in Omsk has slapped a hefty case on a major food distribution company that's partnered with the popular retail chain "Svetofor."
Officials from the Omsk branch of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) made the announcement on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. The allegations involve scrutinizing a set of demands made to food suppliers by retailers, in light of potential violations of the Trade Law.
"The suppliers are forced to foot the bill for disposal or destruction of unsold food items. This also applies to substandard goods, where the expiration date expired during storage and sale, during which ownership was with the logistics center", as disclosed in the materials provided by the Omsk FAS.
According to reports, the antitrust agency has initiated legal proceedings against OOO "OmskRiteilGroup" on suspicions of Trade Law violations.
As per the Federal Law No.381-FZ of 28.12.2009 on the Foundations of State Regulation of Trade Activities in the Russian Federation, to which regional antimonopoly bodies refer, subjects, involved in retail food sales via organized networks, as well as those supplying food to retail networks, are prohibited from reimbursing costs linked to the disposal or destruction of unsold merchandise.
Remarkably, OOO "OmskRiteilGroup" was founded towards the end of 2021 and is owned by Moscow's AO "Centr Kommerts." In 2024, the company registered a turnover of 1.6 billion rubles with a net profit of approximately 3.3 million rubles.
