Iberdrola Invests €1M in TRIBBU, Boosting Spanish Carpooling and Energy Savings
TRIBBU, a Spanish carpooling app, has secured a significant investment from Iberdrola, marking a convergence between mobility tech and certified energy savings markets. With 55,000 registered users and over 500,000 shared trips, TRIBBU is poised for growth and carbon reduction.
Iberdrola, a leading global energy company, has invested €1 million in TRIBBU through its PERSEO innovation program. This investment bridges clean energy production with practical, citizen-led climate action by encouraging carpooling and reducing emissions.
TRIBBU's model directly connects urban transport efficiency to Spain's energy policy framework. Each trip generates certified energy savings, which are converted into financial incentives for users through the BBono Energético rewards scheme. This not only benefits users economically but also contributes to national certified efficiency targets.
The TRIBBU project is also financed by the European Union through the Next Generation EU funds. Iberdrola's PERSEO venture initiative has supported over 30 emerging companies and connects with over 300 start-ups annually through pilot projects and innovation calls. TRIBBU aims to reach 15 million shared trips by 2027, cutting over 60 million tonnes of CO2.
Iberdrola's investment in TRIBBU extends its influence into everyday consumer behaviour, promoting sustainable mobility and energy efficiency. TRIBBU, with its innovative model, is set to significantly reduce emissions and contribute to Spain's energy policy framework, with the support of the European Union.
