Habitat for Humanity Spotlights Rural Housing Crisis

Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns (HHEB) is joining Habitat for Humanity International's first-ever Rural Rally. This event aims to spotlight the urgent need for affordable housing in rural areas across the U.S., with one in four rural households spending over 30% of their income on housing.

The Rural Rally will coincide with the 39th annual Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project in Austin, Texas, this fall. Locally, HHEB will host a special event on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Weston Village in northern Wyoming. The event will showcase the housing challenges faced by smaller communities and the ongoing work at Weston Village. Christine Dieterich, Executive Director of HHEB, sees this as a perfect opportunity to highlight these issues and the organization's efforts to address them.

The Rural Rally and HHEB's event at Weston Village will bring much-needed attention to the affordable housing crisis in rural communities. By participating, HHEB hopes to inspire action and support for its mission to provide decent, affordable housing for all.
