Gun Manufacturing Companies Merge and Shutter Operations in 2025
In the dynamic world of the firearms industry, 2025 saw a flurry of mergers and acquisitions that have reshaped the landscape. Here's a rundown of some of the significant deals that took place.
Lehigh Defense, a sister company of Wilson Combat, acquired all assets of Performance Engineering in late June. With this move, Performance Engineering's operations and manufacturing are now headquartered in Lehigh's Clarksville, Texas, facility.
In a similar vein, Thompson/Center Arms acquired Green Mountain Barrel Company in early August. Green Mountain Barrel Company, a steady OEM provider to several major firearm manufacturers, is now part of the Thompson/Center Arms family.
Olin, parent company of Winchester Ammunition, purchased all small-caliber ammunition manufacturing assets from Ammo Inc. in January 2025. This acquisition strengthened Olin's position in the ammunition market.
EOTEch made a strategic move by acquiring VK Integrated Systems (VKIS), a firm specializing in advanced weapon electronics and battlefield networking, in early August. VKIS operations will remain in Clarksville, Tenn.
In a non-firearm related acquisition, RuckPack, a company that produces healthy energy drinks, became part of the C&H Precision family of firms in January 2025.
The Kinetic Group announced the addition of Fiocchi of America to its family of companies in 2025. However, prior to its full acquisition by The Kinetic Group, Fiocchi of America was secured by Czechoslovak Group (CSG) in April 2025, but there are no available search results providing information about which company acquired the Fiocchi Group's chain of companies before it was fully acquired by CSG.
In a less fortunate turn of events, SCCY Firearms closed in April and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August.
Lastly, in January 2025, MDT acquired the Mountain and Backcountry bipod lines from MTNGear.
These acquisitions and changes have created a new order in the firearms industry, with Ruger historically ranking No. 1 in total number of firearms made each year, and Anderson reaching the No. 7 position in 2023. The industry is expected to continue evolving as companies continue to adapt and grow.
