Göttingen's Upper Karspüle to Close for Climate-Friendly District Heating Expansion
Göttingen residents should expect road closures in the coming months as part of the city's climate plan. The upper Karspüle will be closed between Friedrichstraße and house number 12 from mid-September until late October.
The closure is necessary for the expansion of the district heating network, a project led by Stadtwerke Göttingen. During construction, the upper Karspüle will become a dead end, with access and exit via Albaniplatz.
The expansion is a key part of Göttingen's climate change plan, aiming to increase the supply of renewable energy. Construction work to achieve this will begin in the upper Karspüle from mid-September.
The closure of the upper Karspüle will affect local traffic for about six weeks. The city asks for residents' understanding as this project contributes to Göttingen's goal of reducing carbon emissions.
