Göttingen's Major Road Closure: Herzberger Landstraße Shuts Down for Climate Plan
Göttingen residents and visitors should note a significant road closure and detour starting in May 2025. The closure is part of the city's climate plan, involving the expansion of the district heating network.
From May 12, 2025, until the end of December 2025, Herzberger Landstraße will be closed between Dahlmannstraße and Wagnerstraße for construction. This stretch of road will be closed to accommodate the expansion of the district heating network, a key component in achieving Göttingen's climate plan.
During this time, traffic will be detoured via Calsowstraße, with appropriate signposting in place to guide drivers. Public transportation will also be affected and will follow the same detour route.
The closure and detour are scheduled to last until the end of December 2025. Motorists and public transport users are advised to plan their journeys accordingly. The city of Göttingen urges patience and understanding as this work is carried out to support the city's climate goals.
