Rapid Progress in Alaska LNG: Strategic Partners Lined Up, Final FID on Horizon

Glenfarne joins forces with Worley for the final engineering phase of the Alaska LNG Pipeline project.

Slated for Success: The ground-breaking Alaska LNG initiative, spearheaded by Glenfarne Alaska LNG, LLC, is charging ahead, with top global contenders jostling for strategic partnerships after expressing over $115 billion in potential commitments[1][3][4].

The Race Is On: Melding expertise and investment, over 50 companies hailing from the US, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, India, and the EU have shown keen interest in partnering up[1][3][5]. These eager participants represent various sectors, including equipment and material supply, services, investment, and customer agreements[1][3][5].

Stepping Up the game: Following an impressive response, Glenfarne is now in the process of selecting these strategic partners[2]. The stakes are high as these collaborations are crucial for the successful execution of the Alaska LNG project.

Getting域ready: On the home front, Glenfarne aims to secure a final investment decision (FID) on the domestic portion of the Alaska LNG pipeline by the end of Q4 2025[5]. With significant backing and appreciation for the project's economic privileges, progress continues unabated[3][5].

Strategic Partners:

  • Worley: Australia-based Worley Limited has already been named as the preferred engineering firm for the Cook Inlet Gateway LNG import terminal, as well as a project delivery advisor to Glenfarne across Alaska LNG projects[5]. Courtesy of their 60+ year presence in Alaska, their expertise extends to engineering, logistics, procurement, fabrication, and construction, operations and maintenance (O&M), and field services[5].

Time to Build: The Alaska LNG pipeline, slated to span 807 miles and accommodate enough natural gas for both domestic use and supplying an export facility capable of 20 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), looks set to break ground[5]. The pipeline will be developed in phases, starting with delivery of natural gas from the North Slope to the Anchorage region, followed by the addition of compression equipment and approximately 42 miles of pipeline under Cook Inlet to the Alaska LNG Export Facility in Nikiski[5].

Bonus Fact: Did you know that Glenfarne Group, LLC is already at the forefront of the energy sector, with its Texas LNG project boasting a fully-sold-out capacity and other ventures in Colombia and Louisiana's Magnolia LNG[5]?
