GfK Secures EU Approval to Sell Consumer Panel Business to YouGov
GfK GmbH has secured approval from the European Commission to divest its European Consumer Panel business to YouGov plc. This move paves the way for the completion of the transaction between the two companies, which was initially expected in January 2024.
The divestment is a key condition for the recent combination of NIQ and GfK, which was finalised in July 2023. Following the acquisition, GfK's Consumer Panel Services has been rebranded as YouGov. The sale of this business addresses competition concerns raised by the European Commission, ensuring the combined entity operates within regulatory guidelines.
With the approval in place, the transaction between GfK and YouGov is set to be completed, marking a significant step in the integration of the two companies following the NIQ-GfK combination.
