From mid-December: Tickets in the Germany fare network will increase by 5.4 percent - Germany's Train Fares to Rise 5.4% in Mid-December
Train fares in Germany are set to rise by 5.4% from mid-December, impacting passengers using the Germany tariff news. This tariff covers journeys involving Deutsche Bahn and regional public transport associations, but not those under transport associations or state tariffs.
Germany boasts over 60 tariff and transport associations, along with state tariffs, each with its own pricing structure. The Deutschland-Tarif association, which includes Deutsche Bahn and regional transport authorities, is responsible for the upcoming fare hike. This increase is primarily due to surging energy and operating cost faced by transport companies.
The price adjustment will affect around 20% of German local transport passengers, with the majority of users, approximately 80%, remaining unaffected.
From mid-December, train tickets in Germany will become 5.4% more expensive for passengers using the Germany tariff, as a result of escalating energy and operating cost, impacting a significant minority of local transport users.
