Project Overview

The northern extension of the A14 motorway from Magdeburg via Wittenberge to Schwerin is a significant federal road project in Eastern Germany. This new stretch closes a significant gap in the German motorway network. In Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg, and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the new A14 motorway connects the previously motorway-less region between the A2, A7, A24, and A10 motorways.

In Saxony-Anhalt and Brandenburg, DEGES is responsible for the construction of the A14 between the junctions Seehausen-Nord and Wittenberge. This project includes constructing 10.8 kilometers of the motorway, a new Elbe bridge in Wittenberge, plus 18 other bridges along the route and seven bridges in the associated road network.

Infrastructure Developments

Various infrastructure developments are part of the project. These include:

  • Noise Protection Walls: Approximately 5 kilometers worth of noise protection walls will be erected, featuring a two-sided parking area with WC facilities.
  • Nature and Environmental Protection: Numerous measures, such as planting over 900 trees, creating 3 hectares of woodland areas, and building habitats for breeding birds and bats, will be implemented to protect the local environment.

Stay tuned for more updates on the A14 motorway project by checking the official project website or local government websites. This project represents a significant step forward in closing the remaining gaps in the German motorway network, so be sure not to miss these fascinating developments!
