German Fire Brigade Module Joins Spain's Forest Fire Fight
A German fire brigade module is set to assist in tackling a forest fire in Spain's Castile and León province early Saturday morning. The module, hailing from North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), has previously supported firefighting efforts in Spain and will now travel another 300 km to reach the new location.
The German module's deployment is scheduled to conclude at the start of the following week, with their return journey to Germany planned soon after. Throughout their mission, emergency services have been diligently controlling and treating thousands of square meters of affected area using hand tools and water to extinguish smoldering spots.
Initially, the module was deployed to the northern part of the fire on the third day, where the highest intensity had been recorded. By Friday, the forest fire was largely extinguished, leading to the end of the German emergency services' deployment in the region.
The German fire brigade module will now relocate to support a forest fire in Castile and León, demonstrating international cooperation in combating such devastating incidents. Their deployment is expected to conclude shortly, with their return journey to Germany planned soon after.
