Former UBS CEO Marcel Rohner Runs for Aarau City Council
Marcel Rohner, the former CEO of UBS who steered the bank through the financial crisis, is now seeking a seat in the Aarau City Council. Rohner, running on the FDP list, aims to bring his entrepreneurial experience to local politics.
Rohner, who led UBS during the SNB's billion-franc aid, has faced criticism in the past for his handling of the bank's affairs. Currently, he serves as vice-president of the board of directors at Union Bancaire Privée. Recently, he voiced his disapproval of the planned new rules for UBS as president of the Swiss Bankers Association.
Running on the 22nd spot on the FDP list, Rohner hopes to overtake at least 13 party members if elected. He believes his experience can contribute to the well-being of Aarau's population.
