Ford relocates its global headquarters, after 7 decades, to a nearby campus, situated 3 miles away
Ford Motor Company Moves to New Balance Headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan
After 70 years, Ford Motor Company is relocating its headquarters to a brand-new building in Dearborn, Michigan. The new headquarters, named 'Ford World Headquarters,' is set to open in November 2025, replacing the current headquarters, known as 'The Glass House,' which opened in 1956.
The new headquarters will be located on the site of the former Product Development Center, a place where iconic vehicles such as the Mustang, Thunderbird, and F-Series trucks were born. The new building is part of a larger campus named Henry Ford II World Center.
The new Ford World Headquarters is designed to facilitate collaboration and innovation. It will house 14,000 employees within a 15-minute walk of the main building. The six design studios, a large food hall, wellness rooms, mothers' spaces, and 300-plus tech-enabled meeting rooms are all designed to foster creativity and productivity.
The new headquarters will be a family home for multiple Ford family members, as it bears the blue oval with 'Ford' on the side. Thousands of employees will soon be working at Ford's brand-new headquarters, which is located 3 miles (5 kilometers) away from the current location.
Interestingly, the dedication of the Product Development Center in 1953 was marked by a historic event. President Dwight Eisenhower participated in the ceremony through one of the first-ever uses of closed-circuit television.
Meanwhile, General Motors is also moving its headquarters from its iconic location along the Detroit River to a new office building in downtown Detroit. The demolition of The Glass House is expected to begin in 2027.
The new Ford World Headquarters is set to be a significant milestone in the company's history, marking a new era of innovation and collaboration for Ford Motor Company.
