Financial institution, State Street, appoints Brian Porter to its Board of Directors.
In a significant shift in the financial industry, Brian Porter, a banking veteran with over four decades of experience, has been elected to the Board of Directors at State Street Corporation.
Porter, who previously served as President and CEO of The Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank), led the Canadian institution through a period of significant growth and global expansion. Under his leadership, Scotiabank became Canada's third largest bank in terms of assets.
Porter's tenure at Scotiabank saw total revenues approaching CAD 32.3 billion in the final year of his tenure. He also served as Group Head, International Banking, managing personal, small business, and commercial banking operations in over 50 countries.
Before his appointment at State Street Corporation, Porter held the CEO position at BNY Mellon.
State Street Corporation, a global financial services and investment manager, operates in more than 100 geographic markets. The company has assets under custody and/or administration of $49.0 trillion as of June 30, 2025, and assets under management of $5.1 trillion during the same period.
State Street Corporation's affiliated entities include SSGA FD and State Street Investment Management. Approximately $116 billion of assets with respect to SPDR products are managed by SSGA FD, who acts solely as the marketing agent.
