Favorable economic response observed
In the heart of the Maritim Congress Center, over 300 guests from various sectors including business, politics, and society gathered for an economic reception hosted by IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) and IRMA (Regional Management Association). The focus of the event was on exchanging ideas about shaping the future of the Ingolstadt region, with Franz Schabmüller, co-host and spokesperson of the IHK forum for the Ingolstadt region, expressing delight at the reception's response and emphasizing the importance of commitment to shaping the region's future.
The captivating keynote speech was delivered by Stephan A. Jansen, who spoke about the numerous changes the world is currently facing and connected his ideas to the current challenges facing the Ingolstadt region. Jansen advocated for a 'possibility mindset' in the economy, focusing on recycling and upcycling instead of just producing batteries for electric cars. This mindset encourages openness to new ideas, exploration, and creative thinking to build economic and social resources that can sustain and grow the region's economy.
Anita Soós, a member of the IRMA regional management board, and Manfred Gößl, CEO of the IHK for Munich and Upper Bavaria, echoed Jansen's call during the subsequent discussion. Jansen's speech aligns closely with the broaden–and–build theory of positive emotions, which emphasizes how positive emotions such as joy, interest, and contentment broaden an individual's thought-action repertoire. This broadened mindset encourages exploration and discovery of novel solutions and relationships, essential for innovation and economic growth.
In the context of the Ingolstadt region—a known hub for automotive manufacturing and innovation—adopting a possibility mindset would imply embracing change, technological advancements, and collaborative institutional leadership to continually transform and strengthen the regional economy. This approach is key to managing innovation effectively, dealing with structural and strategic problems within organizations and institutional frameworks, and sustaining long-term growth.
Despite the crisis atmosphere, the guests were captivated by the event and the ideas presented, with Schabmüller believing the region has excellent prerequisites to face current challenges head-on through close cooperation and the exchange of ideas. The event was a testament to the region's commitment to shaping its future and embracing a positive, forward-looking attitude that encourages opportunities and innovation.
