As the year 2020 draws to a close, preparations are underway for the annual Adweek Media Awards in 2021. Hosted by Adweek, these prestigious awards acknowledge changes and developments in the media agency world.

Applications for the 2021 Adweek Media Agency of the Year are now open. The winners will be selected based on their achievements in the media agency landscape.

In 2019, the awards saw OMD, a part of Omnicom Media Group, being recognised as Adweek's Global Media Agency of the Year for the second consecutive time. UM, another part of Omnicom Media Group, was awarded U.S. Media Agency of the Year.

Individual recognition was also given that year, with Lynn Lewis, CEO of UM, being named Adweek's Media Executive of the Year.

It's important to note that these awards are different from the Adweek Media Agency of the Year awards, for which the deadline and details for 2021 have yet to be announced.

In 2019, OMD's win was a significant milestone, marking its second consecutive victory in the Global Media Agency of the Year category. UM, on the other hand, won the U.S. Media Agency of the Year award, a separate recognition from the Global award.

Looking ahead to 2021, the Adweek U.S. Media Agency of the Year award was won by Mischief, which was also named "Breakthrough Agency of the Year".
