Expensive Mega-Bike ParkOpens at Schneeberg, Costing €2.6 Million
The construction of the Alpen Bikepark Schneeberg, set to open in spring 2026, is set to revolutionize recreational tourism in Lower Austria. This ambitious project, located on the highest mountain in the region, will span over 25 kilometers of trails and cater to both experienced downhill mountain bikers and families with children.
Hubert Resch, manager of the Schneeberg-Seilbahn and Schneebergbahn, is spearheading the creation of this exciting new attraction. The Bikepark is expected to provide a significant boost to the local economy, attracting a surge in visitors and generating up to 25,000 visitors per year in the first three years.
The first trails will open in spring 2026, with a total of seven trails of varying difficulty levels available for bikers to enjoy. The Bikepark will also feature a flow line and a Kids&Skills Area, covering an additional 10 kilometers of trails, which will open in the same year.
The Shop&Rent, located in the station building at the valley station of the Schneeberg chairlift, will offer bikers the opportunity to rent bikes, equipment, and sign up for courses. This facility is set to open later this year.
In addition to the Bikepark, two hotels in the region, Schneeberghof and Forellenhof, will become 'Bike Hotels' offering services for bikers. This is anticipated to provide up to 5,000 additional overnight stays per year.
The Alpen Bikepark Schneeberg is projected to have a sustainable positive impact on the regional economy, with officials estimating an investment of 2.6 million euros in its construction. The offer at the Shop&Rent will be gradually expanded until 2028, and further additions such as a jump line, more trails, and a second freeride track are planned for the same period.
The Alpen Bikepark Schneeberg is expected to provide an exciting new option for outdoor enthusiasts, promising a thrilling experience for all levels of mountain bikers. The park's anticipated success is set to boost the local economy and further establish Lower Austria as a hub for recreational tourism.
