Expansion of Seoul's Climate Card to Include Hanam City

The Seoul Metropolitan Government has announced an expansion of its Climate Card program to include Hanam City, located in Gyeonggi Province. Starting from this weekend, the Climate Card can be used at all 56 stations on Subway Line 5 across Hanam City[1][3].

The Climate Card, a rechargeable monthly transit pass, offers unlimited access to public transportation within Seoul and select neighboring cities[1]. It is available in both digital and physical formats, with a monthly cost of up to 65,000 won ($47)[1].

Besides Hanam City, seven other adjacent regions in Gyeonggi Province—Namyangju City, Guri City, Gimpo City, Goyang City, Seongnam City, Gwacheon City—are also participating in this initiative[1]. This move aims to enhance transportation convenience between Seoul and its surrounding metropolitan areas by broadening the Climate Card's applicability on public transit, including subways and Seoul-licensed buses passing through these cities[1].

Among the buses, route No. 3323 will further ease usage by connecting to the Han River Bus Jamsil Dock starting August 1[1]. Six Seoul bus lines already accept the Climate Card and stop at Hanam[1].

The notable additional city officially accepting Seoul's Climate Card from this weekend in Gyeonggi Province is Hanam City[1][3]. The four Hanam-based subway stops where the Climate Card can be used are Misa Station, Hanam Pungsan Station, Hanam City Hall Station, and Hanam Geomdansan Station[1].

The Seoul Metropolitan Government expects to enhance mobility between Seoul and the Greater Seoul area by expanding the Climate Card program to Hanam[1]. In addition, the city government plans to introduce additional discounts for youths, parents of multiple children, and low-income households in the second half of this year[1].

The Climate Card can still be purchased at the customer safety rooms in subway stations on Seoul Subway Line No. 1 to 8, as well as nearby convenience stores[1]. Short-term Climate Cards for tourists are also available for one to seven days[1].

This expansion of the Climate Card in Hanam is part of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's effort to provide diverse policy benefits through active cooperation with relevant agencies and to make its transit pass accessible for commuters traveling between Seoul and its neighboring cities[1].
