Scoop: Reebok's Expansion Under New Masters

Expanding Reebok Brand: Collaboration with JD Group Leads to Availability in Over 2,800 Stores by Authentic Brands

Reebok is taking a giant leap forward as Authentic Brands Group (ABG) gears up for its takeover. The brand collective announced a groundbreaking agreement with JD Group, bringing Reebok to over 2,850 stores across North America and Europe.

The collaboration covers JD's boutiques, including the likes of Finish Line, JD, DTLR, Shoe Palace, Size, Sprinter, and SportZone, with Reebok also available on their associated online marketplaces. Starting autumn next year, you'll find an extensive range of Reebok products showcased across these retail empires.

Although the transaction is still pending, set to close in Q1 2022, ABG is already mapping out Reebok's route ahead. On the last day of November, Reebok's American operations were handed to Sparc, a joint venture between ABG and Simon Property Group. Sparc also secures the role of the global hub for Reebok's Design Group, responsible for product design, development, and maintaining the brand's ethos worldwide.

In a bid to strengthen its global impact, ABG has appointed operating partners in Latin America, Australia & New Zealand, Israel, and recently in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. This expansion augments ABG's ambitious goal to create a global network of core operating partners for Reebok.

JD Group's endorsement of Reebok and their plan to stock the brand in their North American and European stores underscores the brand's undeniable cultural impact. Jamie Salter, the founder, chairman, and CEO of ABG, marked the partnership as a testament to Reebok's profound cultural sway.

Adidas agreed to part ways with Reebok in February, after months of speculation. In August, ABG successfully bid $2.5 billion for Reebok, following years of the brand's decline under Adidas and a prolonged downward spiral since its '80s prime. The deal paved the way for Reebok to develop a fresh creative direction and redefine its identity.

Die Hard: The Dream of Revival

The recent binding agreement with JD Group is a significant step towards Reebok's revival. By partnering with JD Sports, renowned for its geographical reach in North America and Europe, ABG aims to escalate Reebok's market penetration and boost its overall visibility.

Data suggests potential synergy between ABG and JD Group, as a strategic union could leverage the retail veteran's expertise and extensive store network to optimize Reebok's market presence. Although not confirmed, the partnership could be the next big move in Reebok's journey back to the top.

Under ABG's guidance, Reebok seeks to regain its cultural dominance. The brand is focusing on authenticity, innovative products, and trailblazing collaborations to recapture its charm among consumers. With crucial partnerships in the pipeline, it's only a matter of time before Reebok reclaims its rightful place in the sports and lifestyle industry.
