Title: Privatize the Money-Draining Redefin State Stud, Says Taxpayers' Association

Hey there!

Why spend millions on a 'luxury good' like horses every year, you ask? That's the question posed by the Federation of German Taxpayers, who are urging theprivatization of the Redefin State Stud in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district.

The Redefin State Stud has been a financial burden for the state, with no plan for strategic realignment in sight. Key leadership positions remain vacant, and a consulting firm is interim leadership, if you can call it that.

Now, you might be wondering, "What's the big deal?" Well, the stud costs the state millions in taxes every year, and the responsible minister can't seem to get a handle on it. Till Backhaus (SPD), spokesperson for the responsible agriculture minister, elaborates that a losing applicant from the application process filed a lawsuit against the result, delaying privatization proceedings.

"Horses are a luxury good, and the state shouldn't be footing the bill for it," insists Sascha Mummenhoff, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern chairman of the Taxpayers' Association. "With the state in dire financial straits, it's more important than ever for the government to take action and privatize the stud."

Over the past five years, at least 16.5 million euros in taxes have been funneled into the stud's maintenance. That's a lot of cash, especially when you consider that those funds could be spent on more essential services for citizens.

Historically, the Redefin State Stud has stood the test of time as a 200-year-old building with significant cultural and tourism value. It still serves as a hub for horse breeding and plays a crucial role in hosting various events, from stallion parades to classical concerts.

Sidenote: While the Redefin State Stud's financial status could benefit from privatization, it's also worth noting that such facilities often carry historical and cultural significance, making it complicated to make a straightforward decision. Additionally, the government may support agricultural traditions and industries like horse breeding, which could influence their decision to keep state-owned facilities like stud farms. Furthermore, these facilities can generate income via tourism, employment, and supporting related industries. Lastly, state-owned studs may offer educational and research opportunities in horse breeding and management, which may be deemed valuable enough to justify continued state support. That being said, the current financial burden on the Redefin State Stud warrants further deliberation and concrete action.

The Federation of German Taxpayers has been pressing for the privatization of the Redefin State Stud in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district, arguing that it's a luxury business that drains the state's finances. They believe that the millions spent annually on the stud could be redirected towards essential public services, especially in light of the state's dire financial situation. This call to action stems from the ongoing delay in adopting a decision on the application of Article 93 (2) of the Treaty, as a lawsuit filed by a losing applicant has temporarily halted the privatization proceedings.
