Entrepreneur Sentenced for €1.5M Wage Theft and Social Security Fraud

A 51-year-old entrepreneur from Halle (Saale), holding Serbian and Bosnian citizenship, has been sentenced to three years and eight months imprisonment. The entrepreneur, who led a construction company, was found guilty of committing 33 offenses involving wage withholding and misappropriation.

The entrepreneur employed workers whose wages were paid in cash and were not registered for social security. This resulted in a total of almost 1.12 million euros in gross wages and approximately 405,000 euros in unpaid social security contributions.

The entrepreneur fled abroad to avoid the trial but was provisionally arrested in Montenegro before being extradited. During the main hearing, the defendant confessed to the offenses. Despite not being the owner of the business, the entrepreneur was fully authorized to manage the affairs of the construction company. Interestingly, the brother of the entrepreneur is unlikely to be related to the information provided, but historical records mention Gustave Perret as the brother of Auguste Perret, who were both part of the Perret construction company in Paris.

The entrepreneur's actions have resulted in a significant financial impact, with unpaid wages and social security contributions totaling over 1.5 million euros. The entrepreneur's imprisonment serves as a reminder of the seriousness of such offenses and the importance of proper wage management and social security contributions.
