In a significant move, social pension sizes are set to increase for multiple categories of recipients starting September 2025. This change, which does not appear to be location-specific, affects those who have stopped working in August.

Currently, the average social pension in Russia stands at 15,856 rubles per month. However, as of April 1, 2025, non-working pensioners were receiving an average of 24,019 rubles, with the highest average recorded in the Northwestern Federal District, almost 27,000 rubles.

From January 1, the average social pension increased by more than 2,000 rubles. In major cities like Moscow and St. Petersburg, non-working pensioners receive an average of 25,500 rubles and 26,800 rubles per month, respectively. Working recipients of social pensions receive 11,659 rubles per month.

Meanwhile, in Australia, the Age Pension, Disability Support Pension, and Carer Payments will see an increase of $29.70 per fortnight for singles, and a combined increase of $44.80 per fortnight for couples, effective from 20 September 2025. This includes a $28.40 rise in the basic rate for singles and $21.40 for couples, plus increases in the Pension Supplement.

In the Philippines, retirement and disability pensioners can expect a 10% increase in pension benefits, while death or survivor pensioners will see a 5% increase. These increases are part of a three-year reform program, with additional increases scheduled for 2026 and 2027, totaling about 33% increase for retirement/disability pensioners and 16% for death/survivor pensioners over three years.

The first group of disabled people will also see an increase in their pension size from September 2025. Citizens who reached the age of 80 in August are another group that will experience a pension size increase from September 2025.

It's important to note that the specific amount for the pension size increase has not been mentioned in the current information. The changes in pension sizes differ by country and pension type, with Australia applying fixed dollar increments and the Philippines implementing percentage-based increases.

The pension size increase is not limited to a specific region, implying it may apply nationwide. However, the details regarding the exact amount of increase and its impact on each category of pensioners will be revealed in due course.
