Elon Musk resigns from his government positions.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and billionaire, has resigned from his positions in the Trump administration. In a statement to the White House, an official confirmed Musk's departure, stating that he would begin the process of leaving his post as Special Government Employee on Wednesday evening.

Musk thanked President Donald Trump on social media platform X, marking the end of his tenure at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). However, it was reported that there was no conversation between Trump and Musk prior to his departure. According to an insider, the decision was made at the "highest level."

Musk's term at DOGE was set to expire on around May 30. The Trump administration said the efforts to restructure and reduce the federal government would continue, with the DOGE mission becoming stronger over time. Musk had been given unprecedented authority by Trump to dismantle parts of the US government.

The day before his resignation, Musk criticized the costs of the Republican tax and budget laws, referring to Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" currently being debated in Congress. Musk expressed disappointment that the bill increased the deficit instead of reducing it and undermined the work of the DOGE team.

Recently, Musk told the "Washington Post" that his agency had been made the "punching bag," being held accountable for any wrongdoing, even when unrelated to their activities. His political activities have sparked international protests, and some Tesla investors have called for Musk to step down from his role as Trump's advisor, focusing more on Tesla.
